Today's daily warm-up is Star Butterfly from the series Star Vs the forces of evil. I kinda really like some of the subtle visual stuff they do in this show (animation-wise I mean) they do things with the eyes or body and hand gestures that I love love love. Ultimately it's a safe sort of chaotic series, it's darkish but I feel like after Disney let Alex Hirsch basically set fire to the house and dash off into the darkness, stark nekkid, and laughing maniacally, they're pulling the reins on every new series they're producing.

Gravity Falls went all the way to 11 by Disney television standards, so they seem like they're being cautious now. and of course we're talking different creators and creative teams so, different vision and tone all together. But sometimes that show goes places and it feels like a scene that was meant to be darker but then a memo came in from the top just at the storyboarding stage and they had to chip away all that. haha
oh well.
